The Civil Code provides for two types of guarantee:

The statutory warranty, which lasts for 2 years from the date of purchase;
A commercial guarantee, which is considered an additional guarantee provided by the seller on top of the legal guarantee.

This means that regardless of the length of the warranty, the consumer can claim for defects in the goods within the 2-year period or, if the seller specifies a longer period, within the period specified by the seller.
